My name is Linda J. Hawkins and I am the author of the dietitian endorsed and curriculum supported class enrichment book Alexander and the Great Food Fight as well as its spinoffs: Alexander and the Great Vegetable Feud, Alexander Enjoys His Fruits & Vegetables, Alexander's Enrichment Activities, and Alexander and the Great Berry Patch.

I am also the author of Catering to Children with Recipes for Memorable Teas as well as the USA Book News Award winning specialty book The Unspoken Language of Fans and Flowers with Recipes.

I am a proud mother and grandmother. With a strong devotion to family and children, I was once a school teacher (for nine years) before opening my own daycare and then moving on to spend eleven years as a crisis counselor for abused women and children.  I also organized the first meeting of the Butler County Child Abuse organization and served on the board several years.

In December 2001, with the publication of my first book, Alexander and the Great Food Fight I became Butler County's first children's book author.  This, I should note, came as a pleasant surprise to me when the Butler County Library posted the news on the front page of the local newspaper. There are so many good people in Butler County who encouraged and helped me to realize my dreams and so I feel appreciative to them.

Currently, I serve on the board of directors for Healthy Families International (based in Los Angeles) and I am the founder of Heart to Heart Publishing, Inc, where I am blessed to help champion the publications of others.

In addition to touring to promote nutritional based enrichment literature for children, I enjoy dressing in Southern Belle or Victorian attire during engagements where, in addition to healthy eating, I speak on tea history and etiquette.

My experiences during my travels include presentations for Girl Scout troupes, Red Hatters, and many, many schools.

In 2009, I was so honored to receive three awards: the Seal of Approval from Tea House Times, first place in the gift book category for USA Book News, and the Silver Award from the Benjamin Franklin Awards in New York City.

In 2018, the Southern Seasons series received 11 awards.

My goal and passion in life is to continue helping families be healthier and happier.  Whether I am doing nutrition programs or dressing up for tea times, I love sharing joyous times with others.

I appreciate the life I have been given and consider it to be a precious gift from God.

"If you share a book, you enrich a life."
