October Evening

October Evening—

Dinner is cleared,

No one is waiting,

Nothing pressing to address.

So I light a scented candle,

Set the kettle to boil,

Turn on the tunes of days gone by.

Finding his favorites,

Earl Grey or Southern Sweet Iced Tea,

Sweets & treats made fresh from the morning.

It’s only the gift of time,

A few moments shared,

With the love of my life.

We will forever remember,

And ever treasure,

In this crisp, cool evening.

There is beauty to be found,

In orange slice cookies, walnut fudge,

Conversation and tea with thee.

***What would be your perfect “October Evening” and how will you take time to spend with the one you love today?
